Sunday Social

Hey y'all! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend! I am linking up with Ashley and Neely again for the Sunday Social. I missed last week, so I made sure I was able to link up this week! I am having such a great time answering these questions every week and then seeing how everyone else answers. If you haven't already, go link up!!

1. What is your dream job?
To be a fashion stylist for a celebrity. I would love to pick someone's outfits for redcarpet events and award shows. Move over Rachel Zoe!! ;)

2. If you had just won the lottery and didn't need to work for money, what would you do with your time?
Travel! I would love to see the world. God created this amazing place for us and I don't want to only see my small town for the rest of my life!

3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A Lawyer. I had it all planned out when I was 8 years old. I knew I was going to Yale and I knew which Law Firm I would work at. As I got older I realized that was not for me.

4. What piece career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?
To just stay true to yourself! Don't let others influence your decisions in any way.

5. What are your biggest pet peeves in life, blogging, or at work?
Fake people! I just don't get why some people change into an entirely different person than their selves in front of others.

6. What are your biggest fears?
Clowns!! Ahh I HATE them. Also, my parents getting older. :(

Birchbox July 2012: Glamour Edition

Birchbox teamed up with Glamour Magazine for their July box. I LOVE when Birchbox teams up with magazines/brands to create special boxes. They usually end up being my favorite products! The Glamour/Birchbox collab did not disappoint me at all.

The first thing in my box is Color Club's nail polish in the color "Blue-Ming." It is a greenish turquoise polish. I am very excited to try it out! It looks absolutely beautiful!!

Gloss Moderne's High-Gloss Masque is the next product I got. It is a vitamin-rich conditioning complex that restores bounce and shine, and reduces frizz. It is infused with Keratin and Vitamin E. It is sulfate-free, sodium chloride-free, and paraben-free.

It has a very thick consistency. It is a really good sized sample for a deep conditioner. I think I will be able to get 2-3 uses out of it. It smells absolutely AMAZING! I seriously can not stop smelling it!!

Eau Flirt by Harvey Prince smells pretty good! It has fresh citrus and jasmine notes over a base of lavender and pumpkin. When I first saw it in the box I didn't think I would like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I just really wish Birchbox would make all perfume samples have the spray tops!

Mana Kadar Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion is definitely one of the products I am looking forward to trying out. Birchbox says you can mix it with your foundation, or apply as a highlighter to your cheeks and browbones.

What it looks like when you first put it on.

After you rub it in.

I was so excited when I saw the Suki Balancing Kit. I love that you get to try out samples of more than one item in the kit. I got the exfoliate foaming cleanser, concentrated balancing toner, balancing day lotion, transformative cleansing clay, and the pure-facial moisture balancing.

I got 2 Lifestyle Extras this month: Larabar's Uber bar which has dried nuts and fruits packed in it and the Birchbox exclusive ear buds.

If you are subscribed to Birchbox, were you happy with the Birchbox/Glamour collaboration?

Urban Decay's Fall 2012 Has Launched!

Urban Decay has launched its Fall Collection and it looks like it will not disappoint. One of the items in the collection is the Smoked Eyeshadow Palette ($49US). It has 10 gorgeous colors that will give you the perfect smokey eye. It includes neutral mattes and shimmering jewel tones.

I am in love with the case for this palette! It comes in a sleek black zipper case with a mirror inside. How great is it that the case zips?!?! You get a full-sized 24/7 matte eyeliner pencil in the color Pervision which in Urban Decay's words is "blacker-than-black." It also includes a travel sized version of the very famous Eyeshadow Primer Potion and a step-by-step guide on how to create 12 different smokey eye looks.

Also, new in the Fall Collection is Naked Skin ($38)! It is a liquid foundation that comes in 18 different shades (WOW!). It is supposed to have a very lightweight texture that gives medium to full coverage. It is an oil-free, paraben-free, and fragrance-free foundation that is supposed to make you feel like you have no makeup on..almost like you are "NAKED". It is packed with nourishing ingredients to help your skin look amazing: Matrixyl 3000- An anti-wrinkle and lifting peptide, Litchiderm- which protects the skin from dehydration, oxidative stress and accelerated aging, Sodium Hyaluronate-which attracts and holds water in your skin helping it to look smooth and soft, Vitamin E and Japanese Green Tea- which helps to calm and sooth skin.

The shades are named by a number system. Shades ending in ".0" are for warm/golden toned skin. Shades ending in ".5" are more for cool/neutral toned skin.

Both of these items are now available!

So will you be splurging for one of these Urban Decay items? What fall collection are you most excited about?

MyGlam July 2012

I am so impressed with MyGlam! They have really been bringing their A-Game and are giving us some pretty amazing products. I don't think there was one item in the bag this month that I did not love! This was the first month that there was an "OR" option. You could have either got one product or a different product, so not everyone got all of the exact items this month.

I think the glam bag this month is adorable! It is see-through and just so much fun!

Remember me telling you about the "OR" option? Well here was the first one...You could either get the Juice Beauty Green Apple SPF 15 Moisturizer OR Kiel's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion. As you can tell, I got the Kiehl's Oil-Free Lotion. I would have been happy with either one. They are both great brands!

It is a 1.0 Fl. Oz. and is for normal to oily skin. It does feel very lightweight. My favorite thing about this product? It is Paraben-Free, Colorant-Free, Fragrance-Free, and Oil-Free.

The next item I got is the HyrdoPunch Hydrating Conditioner from NuMe. It is 20ml. It is meant for dry or coloured hair. It is made with Seratin-K Protein Complex, Sage Extract, Bamboo Extract, and Argan Oil. It has NO Parabens or Paraffins.

I also got a Special Savings for Glammies from NuMe. You can either get a set of the Hydro Punch or Pure Remedy Products for $49 OR 50% off any products on NuMe Style.

The Hyrdo Punch is usually $139, so you would be saving $90 if you used the Glam Coupon.

I am in love with this product! I wouldn't say they are the best makeup remover wipes, but they are very soothing and smell so good! You get 10 Towelettes in this pack. I think 10 wipes is definitely enough to see if you realy like this product and want to spend your money to buy the pack at the store. I have very sensitive skin, so I love the "Yes To_________" line because they are hypoallergenic. They are also cruelty free, Paraben-Free, Petroleum and SLS free.

Here was the second "OR" option. You could have either got the Big & Healthy Lip Polish by Buxom OR Josie Maran's Magic Marker Lip and Cheek Stain.  There is that "Lip and Cheek Stain" thing again...I don't know what it is, but I just can not wear the same product on my cheeks and my lips. It is just odd to me. Some people love it, but not me!

I got the Magic Marker in "Tango." It is a very pretty pink. It looks like this could be a full-sized product. If you purchase this at Sephora it will cost you $19.

It is formulated without Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs, and Triclosan. After reading reviews, a lot of people say to be very careful not to leave the cap off for because it dries out very quickly.

I barely swiped it across my hand on the top and then swiped it about 3 times on the bottom to really show the color.

The last product I got was the nail polish Circus by Andrea's Choice. Andrea is a YouTube beauty guru and also one of the Glam Girls for MyGlam. It came with that adorable case!

I got the color "Reverso" which is a GORGEOUS white. I am very excited about this polish!
I love white polishes!

So if you are a subscriber for MyGlam..what all did you get for the month of July? Did you like having the "OR" option?

How To: Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Being honest- when is the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes? All of your makeup brushes? If it has been more than a week, then run to your makeup collection, grab your brushes and start cleaning right now! Bacteria, dead skin cells, oil, and dirt (just to name a few)  are building up on your brushes! YUCK! If you don't clean your brushes often and can't seem to get rid of acne, this could be the reason. There are so many products on the market now that can help you maintain clean and healthy brushes.

Let's go over the different types of cleaners:

You can buy brush cleansers or sprays at stores like Sephora or MAC like the one above. You can spend anywhere from $10 to $20. The above cleanser from MAC is $13. This is just a quick and easy method to cleaning your brushes. You can use these type of cleansers after every time you use your makeup brush.

How to clean your brushes with the above cleanser:
1. Pour a dime size amount of the cleaner on a clean paper towel.
2. Start gently sweeping the brush across the cleanser.
Make sure you sweep the brush in the motion of the brush- round brushes need to be swept in circular motions. Flat and angled brushes like eyeshadow brushes go back and forth.
3. Continue sweeping the brush across the cleaner until your brush is clean.
You might have to pour another dime sized amount of cleaner on another spot of the paper towel.
4. Reshape your brush.
5. Let brush air dry.

You can also use a daily spritz cleaner after EVERY use like the one above from Sephora. The above cleaner is $6.

How to clean your brushes with the above cleaner:
1. Spray the brush with about 3-4 spritzes of the cleaner.
2. Gently wipe brush across a lint free cloth.
3. Let the brush air dry.

If you are looking for more of an inexpensive route to clean your brushes, try a gentle baby shampoo like Johnson's Baby Shampoo. This method can cost you anywhere from $2-$5.

How to clean your brushes with the above cleaner:
1. Pour a dime size amount of the cleaner into the palm of your hand or into a small bowl.
2. Wet only the bristles of the brush with lukewarm water. Getting more than the bristles wet can cause damage to your brush.
3. Sweep the brush in the motion of the shape of your brush. Round brushes need to be swept in circular motions. Flat and angled brushes like eyeshadow brushes go back and forth.
4. Rinse the brush in the water. Still making sure you only get the bristles of the brush wet.
5. You might have to rinse out the bowl or wash off your palm and pour another dime sized amount of the shampoo into the bowl or your palm.
6. Continue doing this until there is no more color coming out of the brush or not any suds from the soap.
7. Reshape your brush and lay it down either flat or upside down.
NEVER put your brush with the bristles facing towards the ceiling when your brush is wet. The water will run down the brush and can cause the brush to rust and eventually deterioration of the brush.
8. Let it air dry. The best time to do this is at night, so your brushes can dry overnight and be ready for use in the morning.

Note: These are ways that I clean my brushes. Others may have a different method that works best for them...
to each its own right? ;)
When using cleansers or sprays, the best method is to just simply read the instructions on the back of the product. Each cleaner may be completely different..some may require water and some may not.

What method do your prefer when cleaning your brushes?

Review: L'Oreal Evrcreme Sulfate-Free Nourishing Conditioner

Let me start by saying I am in love with this Conditioner. It smells AMAZING! It has a bit of a vanilla scent. I think the description L'Oreal gives for the conditioner is exactly leaves my hair feeling very moisturized and healthy looking. Once my hair is about 70% air dried, I take a comb to my hair and since I started using this conditioner the comb just glides through my hair. I love the fact that it is paraben and sulfate free and not tested on animals!

    Sunday Social

Hey y'all! I am linking up with Ashley and Neely again for the Sunday Social. I am having so much fun answering these questions every week and seeing everyone else's answers. If you haven't already, go link up!!

This week the questions are all about VACATION! :)

    1. What is the best trip you've ever been on?
Well, my husband and I were going to go to the Grand Cayman Islands for our honeymoon, but they ended up having terrible weather when we were supposed to go. We decided to cancel the trip and go somewhere fun and go to Grand Cayman later. We decided to fly into Los Angeles, CA and rent a car and just visit different places in California. It was such a fun, relaxing trip!

We went to LA, Malibu, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Angoura Hills, and Hollywood. We did a little shopping on this little road, I'm not sure if you have heard of it...Rodeo Drive ;), took a hike to the Hollywood Sign, saw all the stars on the Walk of Fame, took a visit to the Playboy Mansion, and my favorite stop of the trip..did a little shopping in DASH.

ahhh I want to go back sooo bad!

    2. What is your best idea for a girls weekend trip?
A weekend in Miami or Las Vegas!

    3. What is your best idea for a couples trip?

    Somewhere there is a BEACH!

Me and the hubs in Watersound, FL. (there was a ton of seaweed that day, so instead of swimming..we took the opportunity to do a little photo shoot)

    4. What is the best vacation on the cheap?

Since I live in TN...Nashville is very close to where I live. We love having a weekend getaway here. There is so much to do and see!

    5. What is the place you most want to visit?
    Bora Bora!

I also want to visit New York, Paris, Italy, London, Australia, Hawaii, Niagara Falls...and about a million other places! I want to see it ALL!! :)

    6. What are your vacation necessities?
     Summer Must Have's

No matter if you are spending the weekend at the beach in Miami or at the city like Nashville I always have these items with me:

    1. Camera- you will want to look back at all of the amazing memories a couples years from now.
    2. Sunblock! Protect yourself from the harmful rays of Mr. Sunshine.
    3. Sunglasses- protect those eyes as well!
    4. Makeup!! We CAN NOT forget our makeup. If you are going to the beach, don't forget your BB Cream and waterproof mascara.

Of course, you will need to bring other items depending on where you are going.

All of this talk about vacation is making me want to go on one RIGHT NOW!!

Review: Philosophy Hope in a Jar

I purchased Philosophy's Hope in a Jar about 2 months ago. Every time I watched a beauty guru's video on YouTube, read a blog, or went on to a website with favorite moisturizers they all raved about Hope in a Jar. It also has 4.1 out of 5 stars on Sephora's website. It says it is 99.9% oil-free, deeply hydrating, lightweight wonder designed to smooth the complexion while reducing the appearance of wrinkles and discoloration. So I thought this would be the product for me because I have very oily, sensitive skin.

I personally think that this was the biggest waste of my money! I did not like Hope in a Jar at all. It does not feel lightweight at all, actually it feels very heavy! My face felt so icky all day when I wore this under my makeup. And the smell....ohh the smell..It has a terrible smell! I could smell it all day! It is also pretty pricey for a moisturizer. It is $39 for the 2 oz. at Sephora.

I did like that it is made without Sulfates, Synthetics Dyes, and Phthalates. I really like Philosophy as a brand, so I am really bummed that this product was such a let down for me.

Ingrediants: Water, Lauryl Lactate, Behenic Acid, Behenoxy Dimethicone, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate Se, Behenyl Alcohol, Pentaerythrityl Tetracaprylate/Tetracaprate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Tocopheryl Acetate, Benzyl Alcohol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Retinyl Palmitate, Arginine, Stearic Acid, Panthenol, Beta-Glucan, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Xanthan Gum, Triethanolamine, Propylene Glycol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Diazolidinyl Urea.

Have you tried this product before? What were your thoughts on it?

    June 2012 MyGlam

I finally received my MyGlam for June! It only took until July 7th, but hey who is keeping count. I waited until the very end of the month to email them because I wanted to give them the benefit of doubt before sending them a "where the heck is my package" email. They responded back almost immediately telling me that my package was sent out, but returned back to them for being an "invalid address." How can it be an invalid address when it's the same address they have sent to for the past couple of months and had no problem with delivering?! So I had them send me out a new package and it finally graced us with its presence Saturday!

Okay, let me get off of my soap box... Now I have to say even though it was literally a month late..this was my favorite My Glam ever! MyGlam has definitely stepped up its game!
The theme this month is: Out All Night

The glam bag this month is really cute. Instead of the zipper bags we usually get, this month's has a magnetic button clasp.

I was so excited to see the Living Proof Frizz Nourishing Style Cream in the glam bag. I always see the Living Proof brand at Sephora and have been wanting to try it out for so long. It is a really good sized sample. It is 60ML/ 2 FL OZ. I don't know about you, but I love getting samples that I can get more than one use out of!

Another great item in this month's bag is Nyx's Round Lipstick in Eucalyptus (639). It is a very bright bold fuchsia lipstick. It is very long lasting! I put this bad boy on Saturday before going on a date with my husband and it lasted all day.

Philosophy's Take a Deep Breath Oil-Free Energizing Oxygen Gel Cream Moisturizer is my favorite item that I got! I love Philosophy products (minus a few here and there). I am very excited to try it out!

The last item is the Marbella Permanent Eyeliner Pen. It is supposed to be waterproof, smudge free, and long lasting. It is very easy to apply and is very much like using a marker.

What did you think about June's MyGlam bag?
