Summer 2013 Essentials

Hey guys!
I can't believe Summer is already here! I love Summer, but I am going to love it even more next week when we get our pool installed! I live in the south and it is H-O-T hot! I have a few things that help me get through these next few hot months that I think are definitely essential.
Here are a few of them:

This baby helps keep my makeup from sliding down my face!
It is definitely a must during the hot months!

I love this stuff! It does an amazing job and helps my oily face stay matte throughout the day.

I love bright nail polish during the Summer.
This one is Naughty Nautical by Essie and I am in love with it!

You HAVE to have Sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun!
You can be stylish and still protecting yourself. I really love these Ray-Bans!

I am so beyond in love with maxi dresses, especially Chevron ones! I don't think you can wrong with anything being chevron print. These dresses are so comfortable.

Another must for Summer is sunscreen! You want to protect your skin. I really like this one from Neutrogena. It is a spray mist that helps protect your skin when you sweat, during humidity, or when you go swimming.

I am one of those girls that loves to wear mascara all the time! I feel like it really makes my eyes pop when I have it on. I definitely don't want it running down my face when I go swimming or if I am sweaty, so I like to wear waterproof mascara during the Summer. This one from Covergirl is one of my favorites from the Drugstore.

8. Fedora Hats
I am a big fan of Fedora Hats anytime of the year, but especially during the Summer. Not only can it be very stylish, but it can also help protect you from the harmful rays of the Sun. Forever 21 is great place to find cute Fedoras for a great price!

So that is a few of my Summer Essentials...
What are some of yours?

Review: Studio Gear Impactfull Pro T.L.S. Mascara

Hey beauties! So today I am going to talk about the last item that I was sent from Studio Gear Cosmetics. It is their Impactfull Pro T.L.S. Mascara which is one of their best sellers.

What they say:
Studio tested, high impact mascara that thickens, lengthens, and separates the lashes, delivering maximum fullness and flare.

What I say:
This has quickly become my favorite mascara. It really does exactly what they say it does. It separates your lashes, thickens, and gives those lashes massive length! The formula is not too wet, but not too dry...it really is perfect! It does not weigh my eyelashes down, so they are able to keep their curl all day. The brush is super soft and does not pull on my lashes. It lasts all day and doesn't smudge.

I would highly recommend this mascara!!

Review: Studio Gear Eye Pencil

Hey everybody! I hope you all are having a great day. I was kindly sent a few products from Studio Gear Cosmetics a few weeks ago. I wrote about the Perfect Concealer a few days, if you want to read my thoughts about it click HERE.

Another item I was sent from Studio Gear is an eye pencil. I was able to choose the color I wanted and I decided to go with black. I feel like you can never go wrong with black eyeliner. One of these days I will venture out and try something different, something bold,
but for now I will stick with black.

What they say:
High performance, high intensity color combined with ease of application and great staying power. This kohl-based formula provides the precision necessary to create the perfect line or the smudge-ability you’ll need to achieve the smokiest of eyes.
source
What I say:
I really like the formula of this eye pencil. It is very pigmented and just glides on very smoothly. It did not tug on my eyelids at all. It is very easy to blend and very easy to apply. I do have very oily skin, so it did smudge a bit on me after a couple of hours. I would just dab it off, reapply, and it's good as new! I can't wait to try out some of the other colors in this eye pencil.

If you want to see what other colors they offer or to read more about the eye pencil,

Have you tried any of the Studio Gear Eye Pencils?
What did you think?

Review: Studio Gear Cosmetics Perfect Concealer

Happy Saturday!
I hope you all are having a wonderful, relaxing weekend. I had to work this morning, but now I am ready for the weekend!

So I was kindly sent some products to review from the company, Studio Gear Cosmetics. I have tried one other product from Studio Gear. It was a lipstick that was sent in one of my Ipsy bags. It may have actually been before the name change and was when they were "MyGlam Bags." I really enjoyed the lipstick, so was very excited to receive a few of their most sold items.
The first item is the Perfect Concealer. It is in the shade Perfect Light. I was able to select the color I wanted and chose the second lightest color they had because..well, I am pale!

What they say:
A revolutionary new texture and experience in concealer, Perfecter is a silicone emulsion formulation that feels and performs like a cream to powder. Perfecter provides exceptional application, studio quality coverage, extended wear, as well as treatment and moisturizing benefits. Natural botanicals and optical diffusers help to minimize puffiness and reduce the appearance of fine lines, while Vitamins C and E provide powerful antioxidant protection.

Packaging:
I really enjoy the look of the concealer! I do think it looks very sophisticated. You just pull the lid (like a pen). You just twist the bottom a few times to get the concealer to come out to the end of the brush when you first use it. After that, you will click it one time to make sure you don't waste a lot of the product. I love being able to "paint" a little bit of concealer underneath my eye and just dab it into my skin. It is very lightweight.

Texture & Color:
I do have oily skin so I always have problems with concealer disappearing into my skin within a couple of hours, but this concealer lasted all day. At first, I was a little worried that the color may be too dark for me. It didn't look very light to me in the packaging, but once I put it on my skin it was the perfect color for my pale skin. It was a little lighter than my skin tone which definitely brightened up my eyes. It does blend really well and did a great job of concealing the dark circles under my eyes. It goes on very smoothly and can be buildable without being "too heavy." It is not cakey at all.
I love that is made with Antioxidant Vitamins C and E that can repair and rejuvenate the skin.

A swatch of the concealer and a sneak peak at tomorrow's post ;)

The only thing I would change about the Perfect Concealer would be to have more color selections. There isn't a lot of color selections for every one's skin tone. They only have 3 shades: Perfect Fair, Perfect Light (the color I got), and Perfect Medium.

To get this concealer or to look at their other products, click HERE to go to their website.

BONUS:
The awesome people at Studio Gear wanted you guys to enjoy a nice discount off of their website. So make sure you this code to get 10% off of your purchase. A plus for those that live in the US is that they have FREE shipping on all orders. Happy shopping! :)

A little something extra from Misikko....

Hey beauties! Hope you are having a great start to your Tuesday. So, yesterday I reviewed the Hana Professional 1" Flat Iron. If you didn't get a chance to read it, click HERE. When you purchase a hair tool from Misikko not only do you receive your purchase, but they also throw in a ton of extra goodies for you. It is definitely a very nice surprise when you open up the package and see everything you received. So I thought I would show you what all I received in my box.

Here is a picture of everything I received, except the Flat Iron.
I took it out so you could see everything else.

This is a Heat Resistant Mat. I absolutely love this and was thrilled when I saw this in the box.
I love resting my hair tools on this!

A few products from E.L.F.
  • Hydrating Lip Gloss in Fairy
  • Brightening Eye Color in Ocean Dreams
  • Eyelash Curler

Hand Sanitizer and 2 Nail Files

Hair Brush

some roses (to put in a bath, maybe?)

Heat Resistant Pouch
I love the extra touch of the cute bow!
(which is removeable, btw)

And an Angel

I went through and read some reviews on different products just to see if others received the exact same extras that I did or if they received different things. It looked like others received different stuff which is so cool! I am very impressed with this company and have been looking through their website for my next purchase.

If you would like to learn more about the Flat Iron that I reviewed yesterday, click HERE to go to the Hana Wesbite.

If you would like to make a purchase through Misikko, click HERE.

Review: Hana Professional Flat Iron 1"

I was contacted from a representative of  Misikko a few week ago to try out one of their top rated flat irons. I had read a few reviews on this flat iron and knew I was in for a treat! I kept finding nothing but amazing reviews on this product. It made me wonder if this would this be the best hair straightener I have ever tried?!

My first thought about the straightener was how great the packaging is. It came in this box that just screams "professional." It includes 2 pamphlets: one being a detail list of some of their best selling products and the other is the Manual. The manual not only included instructions on how to get different hair styles (straight, curls, or ways to flip your hair out), but also very helpful tips and recommended heat settings for the different types of hair (very fine, fine or chemically damaged, medium, and thick). The straightener was inside a Heat Resistant Storage bag. I was already impressed! When I finally got to the straightener, I couldn't help but notice how pretty it is!

Facts about the Flat Iron straight from the website, Misikko:
  • Advanced Tourmaline Ceramic Plates for Accelerated Ion Generation and Maximum Frizz-Free,
  •      Conditioning Shine
  • Ceramic is naturally hygienic, protects color & retards fading
  • Floating 1" Plates Auto-Adjust To Glide Over Any Hair Texture
  • Curved Plate Edges For Versatile Styling - Curl, Flip or Straighten!
  • Adjustable Temperature Dial - 5 Settings from 140-450° F for All Hair Types
  • Flash Heats in Seconds with Instant Compensation for Heat Loss
  • Ergonomic Handle Design with No-Slip Grip
  • Smooth Grooves Keep Hair Strands Separate and Snag-Free
  • Tangle-Free Salon Quality Cord Swivels 360°; Convenient Hanging Loop
  • Energy Efficient at 38 Watts
  • Independent On/Off Switch
  • Includes Luxe Heat Proof Storage Pouch, Heat Proof Silicone Mat, & Special Edition Tin Case
  • And most importantly, comes with a two-year warranty

  •
    It's all about the details....

I love the blue details. It has a on/off switch and a temperature dial that goes from 140 degrees to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. The LED light will blink continuously when it has reached the desired temperature. I couldn't believe how fast it heated up! It was at the temperature I wanted within a matter of seconds. Seriously!

I love the curved edge of the straightener! It not only does a great job of straightening my hair, but the curved edge is wonderful for curling! I love the blue ceramic plates!

I absolutely love how long the cord is! I hate buying a hair tool that has a short cord. It makes it extremely difficult to use, but you don't have to worry about that with this flat iron. The cord is the perfect length...not too short, but not too long.

It also has a swivel cord which is a top priority on my list of things that hair tools need! It makes it so much easier to use when a tool has this feature.

I have to say after using the flat iron a couple of times- I have to agree with all of the great reviews out there! My hair just glides so smoothly through the plates and it leaves me hair looking healthy, feeling soft, and very shiny. It helps get rid of frizz with ease! I only had to run the straightener one time through my hair to get it extremely straight. It honestly looks like I just left the hair salon after I use it. I did have to use a heat resistant glove (not included) when I tried to curl my hair though because it does get pretty hot and I didn't want to risk getting burned. It does do a better job at straightening than it does curling. It is very light-weight which is a definitely a plus! I really can't say enough good things about this flat iron though!

    Price:
It is on sale for $129.98 right now.
This is a bit on the pricey side for a hair straightener, but it is well worth the money. I would rather splurge on something that I know will not only make my hair look great, but also keep my hair healthy. Plus, keep in my mind you not only get the straightener, but you also get the Heat Resistant Storage Bag AND a ton of other goodies that you will see in tomorrow's post. You definitely don't get anything extra when you buy a drugstore hair straightener.

    Where to buy:

Misikko also sends extra goodies with each purchase. To see the extras I received, make sure you read my blog tomorrow.

    Father's Day Gift Ideas

Father's Day is just around the corner (Sunday, June 16th to be exact) ...
I don't know about your dad, but mine is seriously the hardest person to shop for. He seems to have everything and will never tell me what he wants/needs when I ask him what he would like. So I thought I would give some gifts ideas, just in case your dad is as hard to shop for as mine!

If your dad likes to grill, how about a cute personalized apron like this one from Zazzle?

You can never go wrong with a personalized picture frame like this one from Personal Creations. It doesn't even have to be personalized, maybe just give dad a picture frame with a picture of the two of you in it. Or maybe a picture of you and your siblings!

If your dad is a big sports fan, then take him out to a game. It can be a Pro Team, Semi-Pro, or even to a local High School game. Fill up on hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, and soda! I am sure your dad would appreciate you taking the time to just spend some quality time with him!

So those are just a few gift ideas to maybe give you a little bit of inspiration for good ol' dad!
No matter what you decide to get your dad, I am sure he will love it anyways!

Do you already know what you are getting your dad for Father's Day?

    My Current Facial Cleansing Routine

    Happy Tuesday!
I thought I would do my updated facial cleansing routine for you guys today. My routine does change a little bit here and there, but this has been the same routine that I have had for the past couple of weeks.

Before we begin, here is a little bit about my skin:
    Oily, Sensitive, Acne-Prone
(yay me!- can you sense my sarcasm there?!)

    1. Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub
okay, this is seriously the most amazing product out on the market!! I do suffer from a little bit of hyper-pigmentation, but this baby has helped out TREMENDOUSLY! It leaves my skin feeling so soft and is gentle enough for me to use daily. I only use it in the morning. I have already ordered a second bottle-just to make sure I don't have to go a day without this product!

    2. Soy Face Cleanser
I actually got this as a deluxe sample size from Sephora a few months ago and for some reason I never used it. I ran out of the cleanser I was using and decided to give this a try. I am so glad I did because I absolutely love it! It is also very gentle on my skin and does an amazing job at removing makeup. It doesn't completely take off my mascara, but it does a pretty good job and is better than any other cleanser I have used at removing mascara. It smells extremely good, very fresh (I guess hence the name?). It has not broke my face out at all!

    3. The Bleue Creme
I love how lightweight this moisturizer is! For a full review, click here.

    4. Clearasil Acne Treatment Cream
I love using this anytime I get a pimple. It does an amazing job at drying up the bump and getting rid of it super fast!

I have been doing this routine for a couple of weeks now and my face has never looked better!

What is your facial cleansing routine?
