Winter Fashion Favorites

Hey yall! Happy Friday! Do you have big plans for the weekend? So now that Winter is officially here there are definitely some fashion items that I have been drawn to. I think others are as well because these clothing items have been all over pinterest lately. Which has definitely helped my obsession.

So here are some of my favorite fashion items for Winter:

1. Oversized Cardigans: Just looking at this cardigan makes me want to curl up on the couch wearing this watching some good tv or snuggled up reading a good book. I love the look of comfort and warmth with oversized cardigans. I like the idea of a cardigan better than a sweater because if you get too hot, you can just take it off. This one from Donna Karen is stunning!

2. Plaid Shirts are a must for me this winter! I just love them! You could easily dress them up with a nice pair of riding boots or dress them down with some Toms shoes.

3. Vests are another must for me this winter. I am just madly head over heels in love with this one from J. Crew. Vests have become a staple piece for me lately.

4. Big Scarfs are something I definitely can't live without in the Winter months. They not only are fashionable, but they can keep you warm. My husband thinks I have way too many scarfs, but I say you can never have enough. ;)

So there you have essentials for Winter Fashion.

What are your go-to Winter Fashion items?

Wet 'N Wild's Coverall Cream Foundation

Hey lovebugs! Today's post is all about Wet 'N Wild's Coverall Cream Foundation. If you have read my blog for a while you know that I have very oily, sensitive skin. (yuck!) So for me finding a good foundation that doesn't break me out or one that isn't completely washed off my face by my oil within an hour is.. well..tough! I had a friend recommend me to Wet 'N Wild's foundation, so I thought why not..let's try it out! I am very glad I did because it has been my go-to foundation for the past couple of weeks.
Wet 'N Wild's description of this foundation:
Glides on weightlessly for sheer-to-medium coverage that’s never heavy, chalky, or dull. Evens out flaws with a silky, semi-matte finish that let’s your skin’s natural luminescence shine through. Contains SPF 15 for the ultimate in anti-aging treatment.

My thoughts:
I wear the color 816 Fair/Light. What can I say..I am pretty pale!
This color is a perfect match for my skin. There are only 7 color choices to choose from which will definitely not accommodate everyone's skin color. So that is definitely a huge bummer!
Lasting Power/Wear:
This foundation does a pretty good job of lasting on my oily skin. It also does a good job at keeping the shine off my oily spots. I usually have to dab off the oil after about 5 hours of wear and reapply the foundation. When I first applied the foundation it did look a bit heavy on my skin, but after a few minutes it did soak in my skin to give it that flawless semi-matte look Wet 'N Wild described the foundation as. It is definitely medium-to-full coverage. This foundation has not broke me out which a huge score for me. Since I do have such sensitive skin it is very hard to find products that don't cause me to breakout.
I think the packaging is very simple, but I like it though. I do enjoy the fact that it is in a squeeze tube. It really helps eliminate wasting a ton of product. This way you know exactly how much of the foundation you are getting out. It is only a 1 fl oz, but a little bit of the foundation really does go a long way. I bought this foundation about 2 months ago and I still have more than half of the foundation left.
Final Thoughts:
I really do love this foundation. It is great for my oily, sensitive skin. The only negative I would say about this foundation is that I wish they would have more color choices to accommodate everyone.

Bye Bye Acne...Hello Flawless Skin!

Hey there little lovebugs! I hope everyone had an amazing weekend! So I don't know about you, but I have had the worst break outs lately. ahh such a bummer! I thought I would try something from the drugstore that wouldn't completely break my wallet. Maximum Strength Terminator 10 by AcneFree caught my eye. I am not sure if it was the bright shiny orange tube or the name "The Terminator" that caught my attention, but I thought with a name like has to be pretty powerful, right?!
What AcneFree says about this product:
This dermatologist recommended acne medicine is designed to absorb faster and deeper to eliminate acne bacteria and fight breakouts between applications. Minimizes the over-drying that can occur with ordinary benzoyl peroxide and reduces redness with the triple-action power of chamomile, ginger and sea whip.
Micro-sized Benzoyl Peroxide is designed to reach faster and deeper into pores without the harshness and over-drying that can occur with ordinary Benzoyl Peroxide.
My thoughts:
I am very impressed with this acne spot treatment + redness control product. It dried up the few pimples I had overnight. I was completely shocked the following morning. It does tend to dry out your skin a little bit though..It does have 10% benzoyl peroxide in it, so I knew it would be very drying. The directions say to apply once a day initially, then two to three times daily as needed. I would definitely only apply one time a day for a while since it so powerful and make sure to moisturize your skin often.
The spot treatment does come in a squeeze tube which I absolutely love. It is great to monitor exactly how much product you get out. Plus it keeps it sanitized!
I highly recommend the Maximum Strength Terminator 10 by AcneFree!
Where to find/Price:
This product retails between $5-$7.
I found mine at Wal-Mart, but you can also find it at Target, Walgreens, and CVS.

Review: Wet N Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain " Rico Mauve"

Hey there! I hope y'all have an amazing weekend!
So today's post is all about Wet N Wild's Megaslick Balm Stain in "Rico Mauve".

Here is how Wet N Wild describes the balm:
Now you can amp up your lips with one stick for a kissable pout in no time. To keep you pucker-perfect, these all NEW lip balm stains glide on smoothly while conditioning the lips. Enriched with Acai Palm Oil, this amazing formula forms a protective shield on the lips to prevent feathering. Complete with six great shades and continuous moisture, the formula leaves the lips with a unique minty, cooling sensation. No matter how long the kiss, this balm will last and last.
Here are my thoughts:
So I am going to break my review into a few different categories. So that way we cover all of the important stuff...

Appearance: 9/10
We will cover the appearance first...since, well hello, that's the first thing you see. I enjoy the look of the lip balm. It does look like all of the other balms on the market, but I still think it is cute. I like the look of the big white font in it. It definitely caught my eye when I was browsing through all of the makeup. The product does twist up and down when you twist the metal part at the bottom of the balm.  The plastic top does click in place, but comes off fairly easy. It has a very minty scent. to it which I actually like.

 Longevity: 6/10
It doesn't have as much lasting power as I had hoped.
It lasted almost 2 hours before it started fading.

Color: 6/10
The balm begins as a beautiful mauvey color, but then ends up turning hot pink on my lips...which unfortunately is not my color. I was a little disappointed in that.

Texture: 8/10
This balm definitely feels very moisturizing on my lips.
It does not feel sticky or thick on my lips. It actually feels very nice when applied.

Final thoughts:
So this balm definitely has it's pros and cons. I think I am a little on the fence about it though.
I may try some of the other colors to see if I like them a little better.

Have you tried Wet N Wild's Megaslicks Balm?

Review: Rimmel London's Waterproof Wonder'Lash Mascara with Argan Oil

Hey lovebugs! So I have seriously found my can't live without it, obsession, holy grail mascara. I may or may not have said that before, but this time I really mean it! I am beyond in love with the new Rimmel London Waterproof Wonder'Lash Mascara with Argan Oil. I don't think this product has been out in stores for very long..well, at least I haven't ever seen them before. But I am definitely very excited that I found it a few weeks ago at my local Target.

This mascara only comes in one shade which is black. Rimmel London says it has an ultra-flex bush that hugs lashes defining them from root to tip. It is enriched with Argan Oil. It does have a clump free formula and definition waterproof.
I absolutely love the tube the mascara comes in. It is a beautiful metallic blue color. The only downfall is it is rather large and would take up a lot of space in your makeup bag. The wand is pretty flexible and the bristles do a great job of separating and giving my lashes that length that I crave in a mascara.  It has never clumped on my eyelashes. It has great staying power and even though it is waterproof it is still fairly easy to remove (which could be a good thing or bad thing depending on how you look at it). It is very buildable.

So have you tried Rimmel London's new mascara?
What did you think about it?

His and Her Outfits

Hey love bugs! So Superbowl is literally just around the corner. I don't know about you, but I have already started planning what foods I am going to make, the decorations, and of course what I am going to wear to support my team! Some people think that you have to wear that same old worn out jersey that you bought 10 years ago that may or may not actually still fit...Well, they are wrong! You can still support your team while going to work or somewhere nice that you probably wouldn't want to wear that old jersey to. So I have teamed up Paul Fredrick to come up with some ideas for his and her outfits that support your team and are still classy. Even though I know the Dallas Cowboys aren't going to the Superbowl, I still chose them for my outfit inspirations.
You have to support your team through the highs and lows, right?! ;)
So here are the outfits I chose:

I chose the dress shirts as the focal piece, then selected and styled the remaining items of the outfit.
I can definitely see my husband wearing these outfits to his work.

For the ladies I went to none other than Ann Taylor for some awesome work attire that can still support my Cowboys.
So which outfit is your favorite?
Will you be supporting your team while at work?

Review: CVS Brand Eye Makeup Remover Extra Gentle Pads

Hey loveys!
So I ran out of my favorite eye makeup remover the other day and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to venture out and try something new. I decided to try two different kinds. The first one being CVS's Eye Makeup Remover Extra Gentle Pads and the one being L'Oreal's Clean Artiste Eye Makeup Remover. So today's post is all about the CVS brand remover. I will do a post about L'Oreal's Remover later.
So I decided to go with the remover pads because well…let me just admit that sometimes I can be a bit lazy when it comes to removing my eye makeup. Oops did I really just say that out loud?! I want my eye makeup to be removed as quickly as possible, so I thought maybe the pads would be a great fix for that. It has 30 large extra gentle pads in the jar. It says it gently removes eye makeup, even waterproof mascara. It has an oil free formula and is dermatologist tested. They are compared to Neutrogena's Ultra Soft Eye Makeup Remover Pads.
Okay, so all of that sounds pretty great, right?! I thought hmm what could possibly be bad about this product. Well boy was I wrong! I have to admit this was definitely the worst eye makeup remover I have ever used. The pads are definitely not "gentle." I honestly felt like it was scratching my eyelids. It really didn't even do that great of a job removing my eye makeup. I hate talking negative about a product, but if it helps save someone some money then I will definitely tell you my opinions. Even if they aren't always positive.
So bottom line, I would definitely save your money and not purchase the CVS Brand Eye Makeup Remover Extra Gentle Pads.

How to Winterize Your Nails

Hey loveys!
Winter Weather has definitely came roaring in this past week where I live. We had temperatures that reached in the negatives and wind speeds as high as 60 mph…BRRR! Let's just say I have been hibernating like a baby bear in my warm house. With that cold Winter Weather there are definitely some things in our beauty routine that we need to do to prepare our bodies for that change. I think a very important thing we need to do is "Winterize" our hands and nails. I don't know about you, but when it changes from warm to cold my hands get dry extremely fast and my nails just look so pitiful. I have teamed with Julep to give some very helpful tips and tricks to help winterize your hands and nails and to help them from looking like a hot mess
or should I say a "cold mess." ;)
So here is a step-by-step guide from Julep on helping prepare your nails for Winter:

One of my favorite things to do to help prepare my hands for the harshness of the cold air is to exfoliate and moisturize often. Julep has an amazing hand scrub that I absolutely adore. You can also use something you may already have just laying around your house such as brown sugar mixed with some coconut oil. This makes a great exfoliator and is super cheap too. I try to moisturize my hands and nails as much as possible during the colder months. That cold air will just completely dry your skin out and you will be left with dry, itchy skin that can actually become quite painful if it gets too dry. I tend to get super dry in that area between the thumb and pointer finger. I like to use a good moisturizer throughout the day anytime I able to. I usually leave some lotion in my car, on my desk at work, next to my bed, near the kitchen sink, and anywhere else that I may find myself throughout the day. That way lotion is always nearby and I have no excuses to not moisturize. Another trick I like to do is lather my hands with coconut oil before I go to bed. It can get a bit messy since it is an oil, so I have heard of some people putting their hands in gloves or socks…just so the oil doesn't get everywhere.

Even though you may think that the sun is not out during the Winter time…well, it actually is. So make sure you still put on that sunscreen! A lot of people don't realize it, but you need to put sunscreen on your hands. Your hands can get sunspots and wrinkles from the sun just like any other part of your body...such as your face, so it is always a safe bet to apply sunscreen to them anytime you are going outside.

So now that we have prepared our nails and hands, it is time to give those nails some color.
Here are a few color swatches of Julep's Winter Nail Polishes:

To see more of their Winter Colors, you can access their Nail Polish Page by clicking HERE.

My favorite colors are definitely Betty and Bonnie. I do like to paint my nails a lot during Winter because I feel like everything around me is so bland and boring since most of the plants and flowers are dead. It is nice to see some color. It just puts me in a good mood when I look down at my nails and see a pretty color!
What about you? Are you the same way as I am?

So I really hope these tips and tricks have helped you prepare your hands and nails for these upcoming cold Winter months. I would love to know if you do something special to Winterize your nails and hands.
