Review: Vitamin C Serum by Amara Organics

Hey loveys! I hope yall are having a wonderful Saturday. So.. I am getting close to the big 3-0. Yuck! Let me tell you, I am not even the tiniest bit excited about it either. But as I am getting older I am learning the importance of taking care of my skin. I am trying to stay away from all of the harsh chemicals and am trying to go more for the natural products. I have been hearing so many people rave about Vitamin C serums and how great they are for your skin. So when BrandBacker was offering a Vitamin C Serum from Amara Organics I knew I just had to request this product.

First, let me tell you more about Amara Organics. Amara Organics is committed to using the highest quality natural and organic ingredients in their skin care products. Each of their products goes through a careful selection process and extensive clinical testing before it ever reaches the public. They never test their products on animals.
Here is a list of ingredients that are NOT found in their products:

No Petrochemicals
No Parabens
No Artificial colors
No Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates
No DMDM Hydantoin/Diazonial Urea
No EDTA
No TEA, DEA, or MEA
No Phthalates
No Methylisothiazolineone
source

I absolutely love the sound of all of that! So now let me tell you more about the Vitamin C Serum...

The Vitamin C Serum replenishes your skin's vitamin C levels to give you these benefits:
Increases the production of collagen to bring back skin's natural elasticity and counteract fine lines and wrinkles.
Powerful antioxidant properties neutralize free radicals to reverse damage caused by the sun, pollutants, and cigarette smoke.
Protects your skin from UV damage such as age spots, discoloration, and fine lines.
Improves skin texture to give you a smoother, brighter complexion.
Combined with Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid for extra powerful anti-aging effects

My thoughts:
I seriously love the fact that the serum is natural, vegan, and cruelty-free. The serum not only has Vitamin C in it, it also has Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid in it as well. It comes in a 1 fl oz/30 ml glass bottle with an eyedropper applicator. It is a clear liquid that has a very light scent. When I applied it to my face it immediately soaked into my skin. It feels very lightweight and did not make my face feel oily or sticky. It actually feels very refreshing on my face. I have followed the directions and applied the serum to my face, neck, and décolletage after using a toner, but before I apply my moisturizer. It says you can use it morning or night. I have actually been applying it in the mornings. It does not feel heavy at all under my makeup. I do have very sensitive skin and have not broke out once since I started using this serum. I haven't notice a major difference in my skin from the serum yet, but I have read that you won't notice a big difference until after a couple of weeks of use. I will definitely continue to use and will look forward to having a brighter complexion.

Hopefully, with all of these anti-aging products I have been using on my 30th birthday
I will look like it's my 20th birthday. ;)

Silky, Shiny Hair...

Hey there! I hope you all had an amazing weekend. I definitely had a great time spending some time with my Valentine. So I am all about silky, shiny frizzless hair. And anytime I run across a product that says it can help me achieve all of those things, well I am all for it! I ran across the Smooth Intense Frizz Taming Serum from L'Oreal a few weeks ago. With the words "72 hours smooth, frizz-control, high-shine, anti-humidity, intense serum for all hair types" it definitely drew me in.
I just knew I had to try it for myself.

What L'Oreal says about the Serum from their website:
Smooth Intense Frizz Taming Anti-Frizz Serum is an intense leave-in smoothing serum that instantly polishes hair’s surface and creates an invisible humidity barrier to help block out frizz and lock in sleek shine. It tames even out-of-control strands, and when used with shampoo and conditioner, it delivers silky, frizz-controlled hair for up to 72 hours.

It comes in a 3 fl oz/100 ml plastic bottle. It does have a pump to it. The pump does twist to lock and unlock it. I am a huge fan of that! I like the look of the bottle. It definitely caught my eye at the store. The serum is clear and has a very lovely scent to it. It smells very clean. You can use it for wet hair or dry hair. I did try out both methods and I am a fan of both ways. The serum did not weigh my hair down. It gave my hair a nice shine without looking greasy. I do have a little bit of frizz and at first I didn't notice a difference in my frizz when using this product, but after using it a couple of times I did start noticing a difference. My hair felt softer and more manageable after using it. The bottle will definitely last you awhile because a little definitely goes a long way. I did learn that the hard way...I put a little too much on and I did look like a greasy mess. Oops.

I would definitely recommend using this product for at least a week so you will notice a difference in your hair. I almost gave up on it after 3 times of using it, but I am glad I stuck it out. I wouldn't say this is the best serum I have used, but it definitely does a great job, especially for the price.

Review: InstaNatural's Deep Sea Mud Mask and Emu Oil

I hope y’all had an amazing day spending time with the ones you love for Valentines. So I wrote a post a few days ago about some products from a brand called InstaNatural. Well, I was given the honor of trying a few more of their products. If you would like to read my previous post about a few of InstaNatural’s products, simply click HERE. This time I was given the opportunity to try out their Deep Sea Mud Mask and the 100% Pure Ultra Premium Emu Oil.

So let’s talk about the Deep Sea Mud Mask first. It is 100% natural, mineral-infused holistic detoxifier & purifier. It came in a 16 oz tub. It is huge! I was very impressed with the size of the tub. The mask is charcoal gray and looks very intimidating when you first look at it. You only have to apply a thin layer to your face once a week, so it will definitely last you a very long time. It does smell like clay, but it is very faint and fades away once you apply it to your face. It says to leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes until the mask is dry. It is really neat when it dries on your face. My husband said I looked like I had been playing in dirt all day. I did read some other reviews about the mask and some people did experience a slight tingly sensation when the mask was drying. I actually did not experience that at all and I do have very sensitive skin…maybe they have extremely sensitive skin. I did read that one blogger put an oil on(she said any oil will work such as coconut oil or emu oil) first and then put the mask on. She did not feel any tingly sensation when doing that. The mask will tighten and the color will change when it has completely dried. My face felt extremely soft and very clean when I took the mask off. The following day I had a glow to my face…and no it was not from being oily. Haha My skin looked healthier and still felt very clean. InstaNatural recommends you do not use the mask more than once a week. I will definitely be looking forward to that day every week that I can use it on my face! I absolutely love that you can use the mask for more than a face mask, you can also use it on your body to relieve and soothe muscle aches. I just think that is awesome! I haven’t used it on my body yet, but I will definitely have to give that a try. I just have been a slacker and haven’t worked out in a while, so I haven’t had any sore muscles. Oops ;)

What InstaNatural says about the Deep Sea Mud Mask from their website:

InstaNatural’s Dead Sea Mud Mask is an all-natural detoxifier and purifier that comes from the renowned and sacred Dead Sea. More than a million visitors each year flock to this extraordinary body of water in the Mediterranean, which contains many minerals beneficial to the skin, such as magnesium, sodium, bromine, potassium and calcium. Once applied, this mud mask treatment starts working to absorb excess oil, dirt and toxins from the skin. It is great to expunge acne, pimples and blackheads. It also helps to restore an even skin tone for a smoother complexion. When used as a body treatment, the mud mask can soothe and relieve muscles aches and pains. Whether used on the face or the body, our Dead Sea Mud Mask is a superb in-home spa treatment that will reveal more vibrant, refined, healthier skin.

Price:
$25.77

Now let’s talk about the Emu Oil….

Here’s what InstaNatural says about the oil from their website:
InstaNatural’s Ultra Premium Emu Oil is 100% pure and fully refined, packed with powerful ingredients. It is naturally rich in unsaturated fatty acids and provides unsurpassed moisturizing benefits to the skin and hair. Can be used on all skin types. Provides ultimate hydration for dry, itchy, flaky skin. Reduces appearance of scars, dark spots, stretch marks, burns and other discoloration. Has anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe injuries, such as aching joints, sores muscles and sprains Nourishes scalp and hair follicles to rejuvenate and replenish hair

The oil comes in a 4 fl oz/120 ml glass bottle with a pump. The oil is a very clear consistency. It does not have a scent to it. You can use it for your face, skin, hair, and nails. I tried 3 out of 4. The only way I didn’t use the oil was on my face. I do have very sensitive skin and so I always get so nervous putting oils on my face. But it could have been the most magical thing for my face, so maybe I will give it a try…. It feels very lightweight and absorbs into your skin very quickly. It makes your skin feel so soft. When I rubbed it on my nails, I can tell a difference in my cuticles after a few days of using it. My nails do look so much healthier. My favorite place to rub the oil into my skin was on my elbows. I always suffer from dry elbows. This oil did wonders on my dry elbows! I applied the Emu Oil to my hair when it was wet and when it was dry to test it out both ways. I have to admit I don’t really care for it on dry hair. You can definitely tell I had the oil in my hair. It made my hair look greasy, but you would get that if you put any oil in your dry hair. When I applied the oil on my wet hair it definitely made my hair very shiny and it didn’t make my hair greasy at all. It also did not weight my hair down.
I really did enjoy using the emu oil this way.

Price: $21.95

I am definitely not saying this because I was sent the products to review, but I am really loving this brand. Everything that I have tried out has been wonderful. I absolutely love that all of the products are 100% natural. I also learned that their products are made in the USA and are not tested on animals. It just makes me love their company even more. I love my animals! I am definitely wanting to try out more of their products.

Review: L'Oreal Blow Dry It Quick Dry Primer Spray

Hey lovebugs!
So today I am reviewing L'Oreal's new Blow Dry It Quick Dry Primer Spray. It is supposed to cut dry time and give heat protection all at the same time. I have very long and thick hair, so anything that says it will cut down drying time definitely catches my eye. I was very excited about trying this product.

So let's get down to the nitty gritty and find out if this product is actually worth spending money on....

Appearance:
I do like the appearance of the Primer Spray. It comes in a 4.2 Fl. Oz/ 125ml spray bottle. It does come with a lid that is very secure. I never had to worry about the product spilling out. It secures tightly. I like the pink and white writing..it is very eye catching.

What L'Oreal says about the product from their website:
Our lightweight primer formula accelerates your routine by cutting blow dry time while protecting hair from heat damage.

My thoughts:
I tried the Primer Spray several times before I wrote this review. I would blow dry my hair one day without the spray and then the following day use the spray. I did this for a few weeks to see if I can see a difference in my drying time. I did find out that it would cut down the drying time by a few minutes one day and then be the exact time another day as it took blow drying my hair without the spray. So technically, it does not actually cut down my drying time for my hair, but I do like it as a heat protector. It does not make my hair feel sticky, weighed down, or greasy. I will continue to use this product before I blow dry my hair as a heat protector even though I know it will not actually cut down my drying time.

Nude Lip Obsession

So as the title of this blog says I definitely have a slight..ok ok more than slight... obsession with nude lips. I did a post a while back about one of my favorite nude lipsticks, if you want to read it, click HERE. But I have definitely found another lipstick to add to my obsession. It is L'Oreal's Collection Privee by J Lo in the color  370 Jennifer's Nude. It is the most perfect nude color ever! I am beyond in love with this lipstick. I first learned about it from Jaclyn Hill. She highly recommended it, so I just knew it was going to exactly what I look for in a nude lipstick.

I love everything about this product. I think the lipstick case is very sophisticated and very classy looking. I think it looks very high end. It is a black case with gold details. The lipstick goes on very smooth and is highly pigmented. It is definitely the "my lips but better" lipstick. It is very moisturizing and has long lasting wear.

Trying to help aging skin....

Hey guys! Happy Wednesday!
So I don't know about you, but I have always been told that the way you take care of your skin when you are young is how your skin will look when you are older. I never really thought about taking that seriously until lately. I have started noticing what they call "crow's feet" by my eyes. yuck! I like to think they are wrinkles from smiling a lot. Well all of sudden I have them and that has put me in full on panic mode. I think I have asked my husband at least 50 times in the past month if I am looking old. So when InstaNatural was offering a few products to review with BrandBacker I couldn't have signed up fast enough. I was sent the Youth Express Eye Gel, Youth Express Eye Serum, and the Advanced Action Retinol Moisturizer.  I have been trying them out for about a week now, so here are my thoughts about each product.

First up is the Youth Express Eye Gel...

Here is a description about the product straight from their website:

Our product provides absolute care to the eye area. It is enriched with Plant Stem Cells, Hyaluronic Acid, Matrixyl 3000, Vitamin E and Jojoba Oil to help with dark circles, puffiness and sagging skin. This blend of powerful ingredients increases elasticity and enhances the tone of your skin to provide a firm, plump appearance.
  • Provides ultimate care and protection to eye area
  • Goes on gently and is safe for all skin types
  • Reduces appearance of puffiness and dark circles around eyes
  • Contains organic ingredients and is 100% natural

My thoughts:
I absolutely love that this product is 100% natural. I don't really like to apply anything to my face, especially my eye area, that has harsh chemicals in it. The eye gel comes in a 1.7 Fl Oz/ 50 ML bottle. It has a pump to get the product out...if you have read any of my blog posts before you know I am a huge fan of products that have pumps. It helps so much with getting exactly how much of a product you need and you don't end up wasting a ton of the product this way. It will definitely last you a while. You only need to dab a tiny bit under each eye. A little definitely goes a long way. As you can tell from the picture on the right, the eye gel has a clear consistency. It definitely has the "gel" like texture. Once it soaked in my skin after a few minutes it did not feel heavy on my skin. I actually forgot I even had it on. It actually has a cooling sensation when first applied. I am also a fan of that! I did wear this under my makeup and it actually made my makeup look smoother. Since using this product my eyes do look more "awake". I have noticed a slight change in my dark circles. I have only been using this product for a week and didn't think I would notice any difference at all this soon,
so I am pretty impressed.

Next up is the Youth Express Eye Serum.

Here is the company's description of the product from their website:

InstaNatural’s Youth Express Eye Serum is a highly concentrated blend of invigorating ingredients designed to restore a youthful appearance to the eye area. Our serum contains an advanced Peptide Complex - along with Plant Stem Cells, Matrixyl 3000, Astaxanthin, Kojic Acid, Caffeine, Passionflower, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamins C and E - which help to deliver exceptional results to the under eye area, resulting in a decreased appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles and puffiness.

My Thoughts:
This product comes in a 1 Fl Oz/30 ml bottle that comes with an eye dropper. As you can see the product is bright orange. I was completely shocked when I first pulled the dropper out. The serum absorbs into the skin within a few minutes and the orange color fades rather quickly. It does feel a bit sticky at first, so I would definitely wait until it is completely dry before applying makeup. It does have a very lovely citrusy scent. It is very refreshing. A little definitely goes a long way with this product as well. I was impressed with the size of the bottle. Most serums on the market nowadays come in a teeny tiny little bottle. I believe this product works really well with the Eye Gel. I am noticing a slight change in the feel and appearance of my eyes just in the short amount of time I have been using them.

And last but not least is the Advanced Action Retinol Moisturizer...

Here is what InstaNatural says about this moisturizer from their website:
InstaNatural’s Retinol Moisturizer contains a robust formula of handpicked ingredients designed to transform older, damaged skin into a healthier and youthful appearance. Retinol is a powerful antioxidant derived from Vitamin A, one of the strongest and most trusted ingredients for anti-aging skin care. Once absorbed, Retinol is converted into Retinoic Acid, which starts working to help restore skin and diminish the appearance of sun damage and signs of aging, such as wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, hyperpigmentation, rough texture, and more.

My Thoughts:
I was most excited to try out this product because well besides the fact that I want to prevent signs of aging, but also to help with hyperpigmentation. I do have a little bit of hyperpigmentation on my skin left from previous acne spots. I couldn't wait to put this product to the test! The moisturizer comes in a bottle similar to the eye gel. It is 3.4 fl oz/100 ml and does have a pump to it as well. It is very creamy and my skin felt so soft instantly after applying it. It does absorb into your skin very quickly and does not feel greasy at all. InstaNatural says that the moisturizer will actually help control breakouts and reduce blemishes. I have to agree with that statement as of right now because I have not broken out at all since using the moisturizer and I do have very sensitive skin. I can say that I have noticed a slight difference in my skin in the short amount of time I have been using it. I do apply a thin layer all of my face right before bedtime. It actually says you can use it day and night, but if you have sensitive skin you should just use it a night. So I figured I better listen to that advice and start out with just one time a day. I have noticed a difference in my cheek area. My skin feels a little more firm. I have noticed very little difference in the discoloration of my hyperpigmentation. I am hoping after a few more weeks of using the moisturizer I will start noticing a drastic change.

My overall thoughts about all three products:
I have noticed a difference in my skin since using all three products. I honestly thought I wouldn't notice a difference in my skin for at least 4-6 weeks. So I am very interested to see what my skin will look and feel like after 4 weeks of using the products. I do think all of the products work well with each other.
I do recommend all three.
