Review: Maybelline Color Blur | "I'm Blushing" and " I Like to Mauve It"

Hello Gorgeous! Happy Wednesday!
Maybelline recently released the Color Blur Cream Matte Pencil & Smudger which is their version of the Korean Lip Trend aka The Gradient Lip. The idea behind this look is to put the lip cream in the center of your lips and then smudge it gently so the color bleeds a tiny bit into the outer part of the lip. There are 10 vivid matte shades in this collection. I only picked up two shades ("I'm Blushing" and "I Like to Mauve It") to try it out, but will definitely be going to pick up more.

Here's how Maybelline describes the lip pencils
from their website:
Our unique cream matte pencil with vivid color and blurring smudger
Create your look from full on bold to softly blurred

Why You'll Love It

Undefine the rules of color with Color Blur cream matte pencil and blurring smudger. The cream matte pencil feels extremely smooth and comfortable on lips while the blurring smudger means you can create your own looks from full-on bold to softly blurred. Color Blur comes in 10 shades ranging from vivids to neutrals.

For Best Results

To achieve the softly blurred look, apply color in the center of your top and bottom lips. Using the smudger, gently blur the color out towards the edges of your top lip and then bottom lip.

Top: I'm Blushing
Bottom: I Like to Mauve It

Smudger

Another look at the smudger

I Like to Mauve It #50

#45 I'm Blushing

Both colors are very similar to one another. I'm Blushing is more of a berry pink while I Like to Mauve It is very true to it's name...mauve. I Like to Mauve It is a "my lips but better" color.

Swatches

Top Swatch: I Like to Mauve It
Bottom Swatch: I'm Blushing

I absolutely love the packaging of the Color Blurs. They definitely got my attention when I was browsing through the makeup aisle. I feel like they have a very modern, clean look. It is a retractable lip pencil, so you don't have to worry about using a pencil sharpener. You just twist at the bottom of the tube to get more or less product. The actual stick is fairly narrow and slender which definitely makes it very easy to work with. The Color Blurs have incredible pigmentation. I am so impressed with how vivid and bright they are. The formula is so soft, creamy, and velvety. It dries to a beautiful matte color. It does not feel extremely dry on your lips or uncomfortable. The color lasted about 4 - 5 hours on me. As it was fading it left a beautiful stain effect on my lips. I did not have any problems with it fading splotchy or bleeding in certain areas. The smudger is very durable and does not feel flimsy at all. You can use it to do the gradient look by applying a little of the lip cream and then smudging it a little bit towards the outer part of the lips. You can also just wear the lip creams all over the lips for a beautiful, bold look. I personally am not a huge fan of the gradient look, so I like to wear them all over the lip.

I am very impressed with this lip product and will definitely get more colors from this collection.

What do you think about the Korean Lip Trend?
Is it something you see yourself doing?

Fitness Friday: Motivation

Well hello Gorgeous and welcome back to another Get Fit With Me/ Fitness Friday. Today I want to talk about motivation. You obviously have to have some sort of reason you want yourself to be your best self yet. It can be your spouse, your kids, a beach vacation that you are looking forward to and want to get in shape for..we all have that certain reason, but we need motivation along the way. I like to find stuff off of Pinterest and pin it to my workout board. By me reading motivation sayings or seeing the way I want my body to look definitely gets me off the couch and makes me want to do exercises and eat healthier. I wanted to share a few of the things I have pinned lately and maybe it will help motivate you as well.

What helps motivate you?

Review: NSPA Exotically Creamy Coconut Daily Refresh Shower Scrub

Hello Gorgeous!
I hope you are having a sparkling day! (I was told that by the barista at Starbucks today, so I thought I would share his cute message with all of you :). It reminded of Elle Woods and let me just tell you..I am in love with all of the Legally Blonde movies. So before I started quoting the movie let's get into today's post...  I have something fruity and juicy that you may be tempted to eat it, but you shouldn't because it isn't food. It is the yummy Coconut Shower Scrub from NSPA by Nirvana Spa. I came across this product a few weeks ago at Wal-Mart. I had never seen it before and it definitely got my attention. I couldn't wait to get home and try it out. Since I had never heard of the brand before I decided to do a little research. NSPA is actually a British brand by Nirvana Spa which is the UK's #1 day spa. They just recently started selling their products in America and are sold exclusively at Wal-Mart. All of their products are very affordable. They also had different fruit flavors of this shower scrub and also different products with this same yummy coconut scent...such as a body mist and body butter.

How Nirvana Spa describes the Coconut Shower Scrub:
Use this deliciously milky shower scrub daily to leave skin smooth and delicately fragranced with the tropical aroma of creamy coconut. Packed with natural vitamins to feed the skin, this satisfyingly crunchy scrub will lift away dull skin and invigorate your senses.
Made With real fruit bits
Natural vitamins for your skin
Paraben free

Ingredients:
Aqua (Water), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Acrylates Copolymer, Sodium Chloride, Silica, Citric Acid, Parfum (Fragrance), Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Hydroxide, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Passiflora Edulis Seed Powder, Coumarin, Polyquaternium-7, Propylene Glycol, Vaccinum Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Trideceth-7, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Seed Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Linseed Acid, Panthenol, Retinyl Palmitate, Sorbitol, BHT.

I absolutely love anything with a coconut scent and this product is no exception. It smells so good and so delicious that you are really are tempted to want to eat it. I am kidding..okay, maybe not, but you do get lost in thought when using this in the shower. It makes you think you are somewhere tropical. The scrub does not feel harsh on your skin at all. It feels very gentle and is very easy to lather across your skin. The only problem I had with the shower scrub is the scent doesn't last very long on your skin after you get out of the shower. But hey they do have the same scent in a body mist, so problem solved! I love that it comes in a squeeze tube. It makes it so much easier to use and you don't waste as much product as you would if it was in a tub.

Get Fit With Me: Arm Exercises

Hello Gorgeous and Happy Friday!
If you have read my blog for awhile you know I have mentioned that my husband's job moves us around A LOT. We are usually in a different city every week. Some people may think that is absolutely crazy and think that is just too much, but I love it. I love being able to see different places and experience different cultures and I absolutely love that I get to do all of that with my best friend. The only downfall with living in and out of hotels is that we eat out...a lot. We haven't stayed in one hotel that has more than a mini fridge and microwave, so cooking is very limited. I do my best to try and eat healthy, but it is very difficult at times. But I have decided that I refuse to let myself constantly eat junk food and become lazy. I want to be my best self yet! I know this is a little different for my blog, but I want to take you on this journey with me. We can be each other's accountability partners. I figured I could start a series on Friday's with different workout routines, healthy recipes, workout music, and even just some encouragement. I am definitely one of those people that gets motivated after reading posts or seeing pictures of a fit body, so maybe I can be that for you! That person that gives you that little push!

So for today's post I thought I would share a few videos from Youtube that I have been using to workout to for my arms. Some of the hotels we stay at don't have gyms, so I wanted to find some exercises that don't require any equipment. I like these videos because they are great for beginners like me. I will usually do the videos 2 or 3 times in a row.
I also use some light weights and do yoga to help gain strength and build muscle in my arms.
I will show you those in another post.

If you did those workouts I bet you are feeling that burn right about now!!
But like they always say  "I would rather be sore, than sorry" :)

I hope you guys enjoyed those videos and this new fitness series.
Make sure you check back every Friday for different fitness stuff. Let me know if you did these arm exercises. Follow me on Twitter and Instagram, so we can stay connected
and keep each other motivated!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Helping Your Makeup Last Through The Heat

Hello Gorgeous!
If where you live is anything like where I live then Summer is in full force which means extremely hot temperatures. I live in the South so you can add in major humidity with that heat. Over the years I have found little tips and tricks to help keep my makeup actually on my face instead of sliding down my neck from the humidity and heat...
Prepping your skin is definitely the key factor in helping your makeup last all day. You want to exfoliate your skin at least 1-2 times a week. I personally don't do more than that because you can exfoliate too much and cause breakouts..it does for me anyways. Even if you have oily skin (like myself) you still want to moisturize before you put on any makeup. Pick a moisturizer that works best for YOUR skin type.  I prefer something very light and without any chemicals since I do have oily, sensitive skin. I don't like to put anything heavy on my skin during the day. Cetaphil makes great moisturizers for people with sensitive skin. Another important tip is to not forget about exfoliating your lips. Exfoliating your lips a few times a week can completely change the look of your lipstick. Dry, chapped lips can definitely make your look a bit messy and not as clean looking. You will notice by exfoliating your lips your lipstick will last so much longer and go on so much smoother. ELF makes an amazing lip exfoliator that is so easy to use and easy to throw in your makeup bag. There are also so many DIY lip exfoliator recipes that you can find on Pinterest

My next tip to long lasting makeup is to Prime. A lot of people skip this step and don't think it is actually necessary, but to me this is a very important step that I never like to skip. I actually used to be one of those people that thought primer was just another beauty gimmick that the Beauty Industry started to get us to spend more money. I couldn't figure out how a friend of mine that has very similar skin to me made her makeup last so much longer than mine did. She told me her secret was primer. I did some research and started using a face primer and eyeshadow primer and was amazed at how much it really made a difference. After you moisturize apply your face primer of choice, let it soak into your skin for about 10-15 minutes then apply your makeup. There are so many different primers out nowadays that it can be a bit confusing to pick out which one works best for your skin. If you are ever in doubt, ask a beauty consultant. They will help you narrow it down to what would work best for your skin type.  Makeup Forever has some great primers that work great for a lot of different skin types. I think every person wearing makeup should make sure they have an eyeshadow primer in their collection. You will be amazed at how much longer your eyeshadow lasts with one. Urban Decay is famous for their Eyeshadow Potion Primer, but there are other eyeshadow primers less expensive that work just as great.

This is something that I started doing a couple of years ago and have been obsessed with ever since. I don't layer ever single day, but only if I have a big event for, such as a wedding, that I want to make sure my makeup lasts throughout. The most important key to layering your makeup is to build it up by applying thin layers. You can do this with your foundation, concealer, bronzer, and blush. Start by applying a cream base and then layer it with a powder..For example, with blush you want to pick a cream and powder blush that are similar in color. Apply a thin layer of the cream blush and then apply the powder blush on top of where you applied the cream blush. This can really help your blush and whatever else you layered last.

The last step to helping your makeup last through this crazy heat is to set your makeup. Urban Decay makes a great setting spray and a lot of people have been raving about the new setting spray from L'Oreal. There are a lot of other setting sprays that are suitable for different skin types. They make some for dry skin, oily skin, sensitive skin, and so many others. Make sure you get one that works best for your skin type. You can apply the spray throughout the day to help your skin looking fresh.

So there you have it...my tips and tricks to helping your makeup last through the hot, Summer days.

What are your some of your favorite techniques at helping
your makeup last?

Review: Wet 'N Wild Fergie Velvet Matte Lip Color

Hello Gorgeous!
Everyone has been so obsessed with matte lip creams lately, myself included. There is just something so lovely and classy about a beautiful matte color. Pretty much every makeup brand is noticing this fascination and started coming out with their own matte lip creams. So far my favorite is the NYX matte lip creams, but I still do love venturing out and trying out other brands. I recently tried Wet 'N Wild's Velvet Matte Lip Color in Fashion Darling and Pinky Candy. They look very promising and I couldn't wait to see if I found a new matte lip product to obsess over.

The velvet matte lip colors are part of the Fergie Collection. There are nine different color shades. I really like the look of the packaging. I think it looks very nice and it definitely caught my attention when browsing through the makeup section. The packaging feels very nice and actually does feel somewhat velvety. You do not have to sharpen them since they are a twist-up lip crayon. They are very easy to use. The very first problem I had with these lip crayons is that as soon as I opened up Fashion Darling the entire crayon fell out. I was able to push it back in the tube without damaging the crayon too much. They do feel very light when applied and I didn't get that dry feeling that you sometimes get with matte lipsticks.

Fashion Playground is a pinky/red.

Pink Candy is a very light pink

Pink Candy is the one I was most excited for when I saw it in the store. I couldn't wait to get home to try it out. The color of the lip cream looks so pretty, but unfortunately doesn't transfer that same color to your lips. It was extremely light and I really had to work to get any color at all to show on my lips. Both Fashion Playground and Pink Candy dried a little patchy on my lips.

Top: Fashion Playground
Bottom: Pink Candy

I would describe these as more of a balm since they aren't very pigmented. If you are looking for something that will give you subtle color then these are definitely for you. But if you are someone like me that really likes a very pigmented, beautiful matte lipstick then I would pass on these. Sadly, these did not live up to the expectations I had for them.

Do you love matte lipcreams?
What is your favorite?

Drugstore Makeup Kit for Beginners

Hello Gorgeous!
So at one point or another we all started out with hardly any makeup. Unfortunately, we aren't born with an amazing makeup collection. We had to work our way to that collection. I don't know about you, but I definitely had a hard time deciding what makeup I should buy when I first got started wearing makeup. We didn't have the Internet to pull up on our cell phones to read reviews about products. (okay, maybe I am showing my age a little there..eek) I definitely came across a lot of hit and misses..mainly misses. So I thought I would come up with a "Just Getting Started" Makeup Collection for someone that doesn't have a lot of makeup and needs direction on what items to get. It could also help anyone that already has a good collection, but wants some more great drugstore recommendations. So I went through all of the makeup I have and tried to pick one item that I absolutely love for every category: foundation, concealer, blush, bronzer, mascara, and lips.

I absolutely love this foundation.  It is the best drugstore foundation that I have found that works for my oily, sensitive skin. It does an amazing job at hiding my perfections, but does not give me that "cake face" look. I highly recommend this to someone that is just getting started in wearing foundation. The only negative thing about this foundation is that there isn't a great color selection.
Price: $3.99

Okay, this is the mother of all concealers. It is my holy grail concealer. It is amazing at concealing dark circles, redness, and acne. I am obsessed with this concealer. I think every girl needs this in their makeup collection. I am actually going to do a more in depth review on it on my blog,
so keep an eye out for that. :)
Price: $8.99

If you watch beauty gurus on Youtube then you have definitely heard about this blush. That is because it is absolutely gorgeous. It is so pigmented and looks great on pretty much every skin tone. It has been compared to other blushes from MAC and NARS.
Price: $8.49

4. Mascara: L'Oreal Telescopic (original in the gold tube)
This mascara will make your eyelashes reach the ceiling..well not quite, but it definitely gives you some amazing length and volume. This is definitely my favorite drugstore mascara.
Price: $9.48

This bronzer started my obsession with bronzers. It is the perfect color if you want to just warm up your face a little bit or if you want to try out contouring. It is very pigmented and has amazing lasting power.
Price: $3.99

This is definitely a must for every makeup collection. There are so many gorgeous colors that you will definitely need several..if not all! The lip creams are very soft and go on so smooth and are so pigmented. You can wear them by themselves or mix them together to create a gorgeous shade. Or you can put some lip gloss over them for a shinier look if the matte look isn't your favorite. Either way you won't be disappointed with them. Just make sure your lips are hydrated and not chapped when wearing the lip creams.
Price: $6.00 (each)

Total price for everything: $40.94 (of course prices may vary in some locations)
Not a bad price at all for all of those great products, especially for someone just getting started in their makeup collection. I didn't list any eye shadows because I figured I would do a separate post for that and also a few must have items for higher-end makeup.

What are some products you would recommend for someone just getting started into makeup?

Review: Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun

Hello Gorgeous!
So every girl always wants to have that beautiful sunkissed glow about their skin, but we don't want to get skin cancer from laying out in the sun or going to the tanning bed. So we wear sunless tanner and sometimes we end up looking like an oompa-loompa and other times we look like we just got back from a beach vacation in the Bahamas. We always hope for the latter, but unfortunately with sunless tanner you always take that risk of looking like a streaky, smelly, orange mess. I love trying out sunless tanner and hoping for the Beach-Goddess look. My latest sunless tanner that I am trying out is the new Natural Glow Instant Sunless Tanning Mousse from Jergens.

How Jergens describes the sunless tanner:

Flawless, natural-looking color—in an instant

Using Advanced Color Complex, JERGENS® Natural Glow® Instant Sun Sunless Tanning Mousse uniquely works with your skin tone to mimic results from the natural sun. This airy, moisturizing mousse allows for a precise, even application that dries in just 60 seconds.

How to Use:
Pump mousse into your hand and smooth evenly over clean, primed body skin. Use sparingly around elbows, knees and ankles. Wash hands immediately after application. Allow skin to dry prior to dressing.
Color will develop instantly and deepen over the next several hours. Use once for natural-looking color and repeat the next day if deeper color is desired.

Ingredients:
WATER, GLYCERIN, DIHYDROXYACETONE, ALCOHOL DENAT., DECYL GLUCOSIDE, CETEARETH-25, HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, METHYLPARABEN, FRAGRANCE, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM BENZOATE, BENZYL ALCOHOL, ERYTHRULOSE, ORANGE 4, EXT. VIOLET 2, YELLOW 10, RED 4.

My Thoughts:

Appearance & Color:
Jergens' Instant Sun comes in a 6 Fl Oz/ 177 ML plastic bottle with a pump applicator. It is available in two shades: Light Bronze and Deep Bronze. I went with the deep bronze shade because I like to look like I have spent the past 100 days chilling out on the beach in my swimsuit drinking a pretty drink that has an umbrella in it. I felt like I wouldn't achieve that look with the light bronze. I applied one coat the first time I used it. After a couple of hours I really could see the color change..I looked like a bronzed summer Goddess..okay, maybe not, but I did look like I had a nice tan. It looked very natural and was not orange at all. I did not have any streaks or blotchiness. I received several compliments from people telling me I had such a beautiful tan. I waited a few days before I applied another layer of the sunless tanner. This time I definitely got a darker tan and it did look a little bit more orange. It wasn't oompa-loompa orange, but I could definitely tell I used sunless tanner. It still was no where near as bad as some sunless tanners.

Before

After

Application:
The sunless tanner is a liquidfied mousse. Meaning it a mousse consistency, but runny. It is very easy to use and blends very nicely. Jergens makes the claim that the sunless tanner dries in 60 seconds and I actually found that inaccurate. I felt very sticky for several hours after I applied the tanner. The tanner didn't get on my clothes or my bedding when it was drying, but my skin just felt very sticky.

Scent:
When you first apply the sunless tanner it does not smell like the typical sunless tanner scent. It actually smells very pleasant, but after a couple of hours you can definitely smell the sunless tanner smell. By the next day, you definitely smell like that typical sunless tanner. If you just make sure you take a shower the following morning after you applied the tanner and use a scented body wash it will mask the scent a little better. My husband said he couldn't really smell the tanner after I took a shower, but I could still smell it faintly. It definitely smells better than a lot of other sunless tanners on the market.

Longevity:
After the first time I applied the tanner I noticed it started fading after about 5 days. It actually was fading very nicely and was not patchy or splotchy at all. I was very impressed with the longevity and how it just faded beautifully.

Overall, I think this is a great sunless tanner and would recommend it to anyone wanting a beautiful bronze look. I would suggest to use a mitt when applying to protect your hands very looking like an ugly orange mess.

Facts:
Price: usually between $11.99 and $13.99 depending on where you get it
Where to find: Most Drugstores, Walmart, and Target
For More Information: Jergens.com

What is your favorite sunless tanner?
